A brief report in the Daily Comet says a 24-year-old man (name not released) was bitten by a shark on the forearm while swimming off the Isle of Palms, near Charleston, South Carolina, United States. The incident occurred around 2pm on Friday 11 July 2008.
The man was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No other details were reported.
